Daisy Andersen Berquist

Daisy Andersen Berquist, 95, of Eveleth, died Wednesday, October 6, 2010.
 
She was born on March 6, 1915 in Eveleth to John and Anna (Myhr) Andersen. Daisy graduated from Eveleth High School, Eveleth Junior College and Duluth Business College. She was united in marriage to Olaf “Ole” W. Berquist on January 2, 1942 in Eveleth. Together with her husband, she owned and operated the family grocery, the former Anderson Grocery. The store was famous for its penny candy case. Daisy also worked as a bookkeeper for Eveleth Oil. She was a member of United in Christ Lutheran Church, a life member of Sons of Norway, a member of Auxiliary to Mesaba Range Post 1172 VFW of Eveleth where she was their musician and a member of the Degree of Honor. Daisy enjoyed flowers and grew beautiful orchids.
 
She is survived by her sons, John (The Rev. Dr. Carol Hepokoski) Berquist of Rochester; Robert (Sally) Berquist of Tower; grandchildren, Andy Berquist of Boston; Jonah Berquist of Seattle; Dr. James Berquist of Duluth; Pamela (Peder) Lehrke of Janesville, MN and Nilsen (Elizabeth) Berquist of Mahtowa; great grandchildren, Justin, Jakob, Kylee, Logan and a niece, Edith Ann (Ballard) Daubert of Detroit, Michigan.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Olaf “Ole” and a brother, Odmar.
 
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 11, 2010 at United in Christ Lutheran Church in Eveleth. Pastor Joel Rova-Hegener will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the services. Inurnment will be in Eveleth Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Health Ministry at United in Christ Lutheran Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home, Eveleth. To sign the guestbook online and to leave a memorial message, go to:   www.cron-sheehy.com
