Carol Ann Schmid

Carol Ann Schmid, age 90 of Kugler Township and Tower died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 in St. Michael’s Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia. She was born May 3, 1920 in Duluth the daughter of Arthur and Mabel (Lee) Hendrickson and married Wendell Schmid on April 13, 1941 in Duluth. She was a longtime resident of both Kugler Township and Tower, spent a short time in Arizona, and enjoyed summers on Lake Vermilion. Carol was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tower, was a former Girl Scout Leader, a volunteer at Hearthside, and a member of the Homecraft Club. She enjoyed reading, gardening, baking, spending time with family, and especially entertaining her grandchildren. She loved having coffee with her nieces and her dear friends. Carol will be most remembered for her love of family and friends. Her spunky spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
 
Carol is survived by children: Jean (Jim) Loushin of Babbitt, Becky Kallio of Embarrass, Barb (Jon) Christofferson of Blaine, Lizbeth (Steven) Smith of Chaska, and David (Pat) Schmid of Embarrass; siblings: Jane Shoden of Virginia, Ruth (Joe) Jeanette of Tucson, and Dorothy Aronen of Lake Vermilion; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Wendell; sister: Peggy Palmershiem; and son-in-law: Duane Kallio.
 
A Gathering time for family and friends will be held Saturday, October 23, 2010 from 12 Noon until the 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tower. Pastor Aaron Lofgren will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Tower.
 
Memorials are preferred.
