Betty Ellen Celley
Betty Ellen Celley, 82, of Eveleth died July 10, 2010 at the Virginia Regional Medical Center. She was born October 7, 1927 in Eveleth, Minnesota to James Grant and Barbara Ellen (Austin) Waits. She was baptized on January 22nd, 1928 by her grandfather the Rev. Edward Wallace Waits in the Presbyterian Church. Betty graduated from the Duluth Business University and was employed by the More Hospital in Eveleth and later the J.C. Penney Company in Eveleth and Virginia, MN. She was united in marriage on November 11, 1946 to Keith Celley of Eveleth and together they raised five children. Betty enjoyed reading, bowling, card club and meeting for coffee and tea with some of her childhood friends who were also neighbors. After Betty and Keith retired, they took pleasure in traveling, fishing, attending stock car races and spending winters in Texas and summers at Lake Vermilion.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years; Keith L. Celley on December 19, 2009; her parents; newborn daughter; Ruth Ann Celley; and newborn great-granddaughter; Grace Vienna Joy Inman.
She is survived by one sister, Shirley Kinney of Virginia, Minnesota; brother-in-law Neil (Virginia) Celley of Ann Arbor, Michigan; one daughter, Sandra (Larry) Peterlin of Hibbing, Minnesota; 4 sons, David (Lisa) Celley of Eveleth, Minnesota; Keith Celley of Hibbing, Minnesota; Kevin (Patti Wallert) Celley of Biwabik, Minnesota and Clayton (Julia) Celley of Eveleth, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; David (Emily) Celley; Daniel (Lani) Celley; Trisha (Scott) Morcom; Stacia, Nathan, Janelle and Kyle Peterlin, Courtney and Neil Celley; and Clayton Celley; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Kassamali Jamal and his nurses and the staff of Virginia Regional Medical Center, Virginia Convalescent Care and Edgewood Vista for the care and kindness shown to our mother in the final weeks of her life. With deepest gratitude we thank Amanda (Brown Eyes) Incontro and Jackie Incontro for the love, laughter and outstanding care they provided which enabled our mother to stay in her home.
A joint memorial service for Betty and Keith will be held at the Range Funeral Home, 911 16th St. N. in Virginia, Minnesota on Thursday, July 22nd with visitation at 1:00 and the service at 2:00 followed by inurnment in the family plot of the Eveleth Cemetery.
