Arne E. Peterson

Arne E. Peterson, 84, of Virginia passed away April 14, 2010 at the Virginia Regional Medical Center. Services will be at 1:00 P.M. visitation will be at 12 noon on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Range Funeral Home of Virginia. Rev. Fr. Frank Perkovich will officiate. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery. Military honors by Virginia Colored Guard.

 Arne was born on August 1, 1925 to Isaac and Sanni (Luomanen) Peterson. He grew up in Kettle River and attended Kaleva School. He was a WWII Veteran serving with the 126th U.S. Army infantry in the Pacific. He received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Arne was a self-employed carpenter. He married Shirley Dolin Rintala on June 21, 1988. Following the marriage they made their home in Virginia. He was a member of the Virginia V.F.W and the Eveleth Elks.
 
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; Daughter: Susan (Paul) Kangas of Virginia, MN; 6 Grandchildren: Tammy (Bud) Kishel, Kristine Kampa (Jason Gizzard), Mark (Amy) Kangas, Preston (Brenna) Kangas, Robert (Shelly) Rintala and Chad Rintala and 9 Great-Grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife; Rose, Parents and 2 Brothers.
