Ann Mary Toleen
Ann Mary Toleen, 98, Virginia, died Sunday, November 14, 2010 at the Virginia Convalescent Center. Visitation will begin on Friday, November 19, 2010 from 12:00 NOON to the 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service at the Range Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be made to the Mesabi Humane Society.
Ann was born on August 8, 1912, in Mt. Iron, the daughter of Joseph and Christine (Lucarelli) Menelli. She grew up and attended schools in Mt. Iron.
In October of 1941, she was united in marriage to Robert Warren Toleen.
During World War II, she worked as a housekeeper for WPA, and also as a dishwasher for Marmas Cafe. She spent most of life working as a homemaker.
Ann enjoyed music especially accordian music, and spending time with her family and friends. She was fondly known as “Nanny”. Ann was proud of her Italian heritage. She had a wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by her daughter, Dorene (Norman) Korpi, Britt; a granddaughter, Lisa (Patrick) Olson, Phoenix, AZ; a grandson, Joel (Laura) Korpi, Eveleth; five great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Nicholas, Emily, Jamie, and Caitlin; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert in 1988, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
