Allan R. J. Niemi
Allan R. J. Niemi, Sr. age 71 of Isanti passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center in Wyoming with his loving family by his side.
Allan was born on August 29, 1939 in Aurora, Minnesota to Reino and Thelma (Lehtiner) Niemi. He was raised and attended schools in Aurora graduating from the Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School. After high school he worked for Northern Pump for a short time before working for several others companies and eventually becoming self employed in the aerospace and machining industries. He married Billie Jean Turpela on October 1, 1960 in Aurora. Allan enjoyed a very active life and enjoyed building race cars and racing snowmobiles. In the 1980’s he purchased a hobby farm where he loved raising horses. His most enjoyable time was spent with his family and many friends.
Allan is preceded in death by his parents, Reino and Thelma; his beloved wife, Billie Jean and grandson, Patrick.
He is survived by his son, Allan (Kris) Niemi, Jr. of North Branch; daughter Ann (Derek) Reid of Isanti and daughter, Amy Niemi of Texas. His grandsons, Allan III and Joe Niemi, Andrew Kastner, Zac Reid and granddaughter, Sara (Tim) Brueske. Brothers, Del (Bonnie) Niemi of Webster, WI; John (Barb) Niemi of Palo; sisters, Lorrie (Ron) Almos of Hoyt Lakes; Kathy (Steve) Shelton of Cape Coral, FL and Jean (Bill) Drazksowski of Plymouth and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Range Funeral Home in Virginia with Rev. Walter Leitze officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Virginia on Tuesday. Interment will take place at Palo Cemetery at the Town of White. Arrangements are under the direction of Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch and the Range Funeral Home in Virginia.
